From Bvlgari to Vintage Rolexes: The Best Watches and Jewelry at the 2021 Golden Globes
This years’ Golden Globes kicked off the Hollywood Award Season and we are excited. Nevermind that it was largely a virtual event and the usual red carpet fanfare and buzz associated with the annual award show had to be put aside. Hollywood may not have had their red carpet this year but there was still plenty of style.
Despite the pandemic factor, the stars still managed to dazzle in their finest high fashion outfits perfectly finished with amazing jewelry and watches to top it off. Call it self-awareness, sensitivity to the moment or both, but none of the dapper gents in attendance at Sunday night’s Golden Globes accessorized their tuxedos with any particularly flashy watch. Don’t get us wrong, the timepieces on display were unquestionably luxurious examples of hardworking horology, just more on the subtler, classic and approachable side. While the ladies took no prisoners in their stunning display of jewellery.
So what are our favorite pieces that made it to the awards? Find out here:
The British actor, who won Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series for his role as Prince Charles in The Crown, paired his Loewe look with a restrained and slender stainless steel watch from Bulgari’s Octo Finissimo line.
While the show was dominated by the more casually dressed—multiple hoodies were spotted over the course of the night!—Dan Levy defied that trend. The Big Bang actor wore Valentino couture. “It just felt like the perfect balance between formal and casual, festive and laid back, polished yet unfussy,” Levy told Vogue.com of his eye-popping Valentino suit for the Golden Globes. For bling, the celebrated Schitt’s Creek star donned an equally bold and elegant Cartier Santos.
Leslie Odom Jr.
Leslie Odom Jr. played Sam Cooke in the film One Night in Miami and also wore Valentino, choosing to accessorize his outfit with a Bulgari Octo Roma for the award ceremony. He was nominated for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture” and “Best Original Song — Motion Picture.” The Bulgari Octo Roma he wore is a stainless steel and rose gold piece with a brown alligator leather strap. Like many of the other nominees and presenters, Odom Jr. sent in some images of himself to make up for the absence of a red carpet.
For the ceremony, Justin Theroux wore a vintage gold Rolex Submariner from his birth year 1971. The Submariner is one of Rolex’s most iconic and recognized watches. Gold Submariners are special watches: they’re not as popular as their steel brethren, but they make a big statement as well.
Kidman was nominated for best actress in a miniseries or motion picture for TV for her role in the hit psychological thriller The Undoing. The 53 year old actress opted out of her quarantine “sweats” into a gorgeous custom gown by Louis Vuitton. She paired her look with matching Louis Vuitton sandals, Cathy Waterman Jewelry and an Omega Tresor watch. The Tresor line offers Omega’s most elegant and gala-appropriate models, and the particular version Kidman wore features the brand’s “Moonshine Gold,” 38 full-cut diamonds and a quartz movement.
For the virtual awards show, Hudson chose jaw-dropping BVLGARI jewels and an equally sparkly off-the-shoulder gown by Louis Vuitton. That meant over 38 carats in diamonds and a casual 13-carat sapphire ring. “We opted for layers and a cool earring moment,” said Sophie Lopez, Hudson’s longtime stylist on the Bvlgari Serpenti earrings the actress wore for the night.
